Congratulations to our four United States Space Force (USSF) trainees, who graduated in September 2026 after focused, hands-on masonry training.

This was the second group of trainees sent to Phoenix Masonry School by the U.S. federal government. They traveled from a USSF base in California specifically to train in our program.

OWNER & FOUNDER

Charlie Cummins

Charlie has worked in masonry since 1963 and has taught the trade since 1980. A Vietnam-era U.S. Navy Seabees veteran, he brings decades of practical experience to every lesson.

He spent 20 years contracting in Alaska on city, state, and federal projects, including schools and military-related construction. In 2019, he founded Phoenix Masonry School to pass that experience on through hands-on training.

Phillip Sin

Phillip grew up learning construction alongside his father, a general contractor, and developed hands-on experience across many trades. He joined Phoenix Masonry School in 2020, bringing that background to student training and campus leadership.

KB-2 contractor license application pending approval.

Phillip was part of Phoenix’s YouthBuild program with Habitat for Humanity, in partnership with Chicanos Por La Causa. YouthBuild supports GED completion and hands-on training in the trades.

He also serves on the City of Phoenix Workforce Coalition under Mayor Kate Gallego.

Do I need experience to enroll?+

No prior masonry experience is needed to begin learning the fundamentals. If you already work in construction, speak with us about your experience and the training that fits your goals.

How long does the Masonry program take?+

Plan for approximately 300 clock hours. A full-time schedule is typically around 6–8 weeks; part-time attendance takes longer. Your advisor will confirm the schedule and completion requirements.

What does open entry, open exit mean?+

You can start throughout the year rather than wait for a semester, attend full time or part time on an agreed schedule, and complete training as you meet the required hours and skills. We offer weekly starts. Contact admissions to confirm your start date and available training hours.

What does tuition cost?+
